Inspiring and supporting courageous leadership: a new BLOG for a new era

Urban and rural collaborate through art

A few weeks ago Catherine Jordan wrote about a collaboration between Montevideo, MN and students from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD). Then this week the Grand Rapids Herald-Review reported on a similar partnership going on in that community with MCAD students (Forget San Francisco, Grand Rapids is it for artists). Among other things, MCAD students taught screenprinting classes at the local art center (see photo below), which project participants see as just the beginning of the potential ways the community and the students can support each other. As Jay Coogan, president of MCAD said in the article, "I think there's tremendous opportunity in outstate Minnesota."

Talk Back to Bush

Where you do you see opportunity for outside influences and resources to create a new energy in your community? If you could invite any organization or person to see what's cooking in your community, who would it be and why? We want to know what you think.
