From 1970 to 2008, the Bush Foundation awarded 990 capital grants, totaling $190.3 million, which comprised 24 percent of the Foundation’s total allocations.
Individual capital grants have ranged from $2,000 to $3 million.

The Foundation’s emphasis in this program area was on major projects that were part of comprehensive capital campaigns, as opposed to incremental renovations, like roof replacements or ongoing maintenance.
The overwhelming majority of projects funded by the Bush Foundation were successfully completed or completed essentially as planned. Since 1970, just two percent of the funded projects were fully or partially canceled.
